Monitored is proud to announce the upcoming release of our sixth and seventh full-length albums, Roots and Roots (Unplugged), scheduled to launch on April 20th and 22nd, 2026. The April 20th premiere holds profound personal significance, as it honors the birthday of my late father, arriving just one week after the observance of Greek Orthodox Easter.
Thematically, this dual release explores the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins, juxtaposed against the title Roots—a reflection on family, origins, and the foundational elements of our character. Writing lyrics that encapsulate these universal human flaws was a demanding yet rewarding challenge. My hope is that these tracks serve as a mirror, prompting moments of introspection, self-discovery, and honest self-evaluation for the listener.
The Musical Structure
-
Roots (Progressive Metal): Structured akin to a double record, each of the seven sins is represented by two distinct tracks. In a unique compositional approach, several of these tracks share the exact same lyrical narrative but are reinterpreted through entirely different musical executions.
-
Roots (Unplugged): This companion album offers an intimate, acoustic reimagining of the journey. Executed in the style of a live, unplugged concert, it features the same lyrical depth with a slightly condensed tracklist.
This body of work is dedicated to the listeners who embrace Monitored’s music for its essence, unbound by genre constraints or traditional stylistic boxes. My artistic commitment remains to ensure each release is a unique evolution from the last. Anchoring these albums in a singular, unified theme provided a clear sonic direction, allowing the narrative to guide the complex production and mixing process.
As we transition into a season of natural renewal, I wish you all a joyous Easter and a flourishing Spring.
Peace & Love,
Vangelis
